At White Door Design we hold both local and international research in high regard.
Every two years we pack our bags and head to Milan for the biggest and best combination of trend-setting interiors fairs, being; Eurocucina (for kitchens), Salone Internazionale Del Bagno (for bathrooms) and Salone Internazionale Del Mobile (for furniture). It’s here that we learn the bones of each new emerging style – everything from the latest colours and surface texture innovations, to lighting technology and spatial layouts. We don’t believe Australians should have to wait an average of 2-5 years for trends to filter into our market.
Our fourth visit to this international trend-setting fair and once again, it didn’t disappoint. A concoction of geometric shapes, organic forms and finishes, a stronger use of solid surface, a beautiful development in the use of vibrant colours, just to name a few of the many standout elements seen.
March 2012 provided our first opportunity to experience the world of Gaudi in Barcelona, firsthand. A visit to the Alhambra in Granada gave us an intense initial exposure to Moorish architecture and was ideal to see before delving further into the style in Morocco.
Morocco has always been ‘on the list’. In April 2012 it exceeded our expectations of gaining design insight and inspiration, particularly in relation to the use of colour and Moorish architecture. Below is a short snapshot of our discoveries.
